I remember reading this as one of those big collections you'd find at a library, it started with cyclops and some other people I don't remember raiding a secret facility, and Cyclops' powers don't work for whatever reason.
They complete the mission pretty quickly, and suddenly Magneto has become a dictator and starts killing all non-mutants systematically. His inner circle starts thinning because he kills a bird-looking mutant out of rage that he called a carrot a fruit, and kills a fat mutant because they accused someone of "passing gas at the dramatic moment" (neither of these are jokes).
The X-men beat magneto, when suddenly Jean Grey has what is described as "a planet sized stroke", which completely reboots the arc into a cyberpunk dystopia where Beast is keeping her in a biological stasis pod and cloning nightcrawler on mass to stop this version of the rest of the X-men from freeing her.
The team of X-men fight, and one of them has a breakdown over a never-explained memory involving "those stairs", "that pose", and "all of us being so hungry!"
I'm sure the comic made vaguely more sense than I'm remembering, and even if not, I would like to give it another read.
I figured most authorities on x-men would be here, so, help if you can by telling me the name of the arc, or at least the issue numbers.
Thanks in advance!
